The Dhanraj-Ballal Hockey Academy (DBHA), located in Bangalore, Karnataka, has 28 trainees in the 16 - 21 years age group, who are being given specialised training in physical fitness, mental toughness and hockey skills.

All training and kit expenses for the 28 trainees are being taken care of by the academy. Each trainee is given a monthly stipend, and also a scholarship for their education.

Padma Shree Dhanraj Pillai and Arjuna Puraskar winner Ashish Ballal, both Olympians with over a decade of experience, have teamed together to give back to India's national game, and play their part in helping India regain its past glory.

Objectives

The objectives of DBHA are:

• Train and coach young, talented players in modern hockey techniques
  
  
• Rejuvenate the game at a grassroots level
  
  
• Create popularity and awareness for the game among our youth
  
  
• Provide a feeder route to the national team for the 2004 Olympics and the 2006 World Cup

Expenses

DBHA will bear the following expenses of the trainees:

• Monthly stipend and educational scholarship in the local schools and colleges
  
  
• Cost of kitting, transportation and all other expenses incurred to trainees
  
  
• Incentive/award given for representing the state or national team

In short; the individual should only have the desire to play, everything else shall be taken care of by DBHA.
