Skills can be defined as the means by which a player overcomes the difficult and different situations in a game. Without perfection of skills, no tactics can be successful. A team's success depends first on the perfection of the skills, and secondly on physical fitness.

The teaching of skills or technique can be divided into two parts - part method and whole method. Simple skills are to be taught first, and then we must proceed to the complicated skills. Initially, the skills are performed at a slow pace and as the player gets perfection, the degree of difficulty also increases, i.e., from running conditions to game situations.

DODGING SKILLS

Always dodge a player away from his normal reach to avoid re-tackling (e.g., Shri Sahabaz Ahmad of Pakistan)

Stick should always guard the ball on a dodge to avoid loosing possession of the ball

Learn to accelerate after the dodge to avoid retackle, you should gain ground after the dodge

If there is no space, avoid your dodge because your dodge would be effective only with space and a supportive player (either parallel and diagonal)

Choose the position (right or left) to dodge depending on the opponent's strong/weak points
