A drop of tear on the cheek of time - from the poem Taj Mahal by Rabindranath Tagore

One of the Seven Wonders of the World, the Taj Mahal was built by the Mughal Emperor Shah Jahan as a mausoleum for his wife Mumtaz Mahal who died in 1631. Situated on the banks of the Yamuna in Agra, it took 20,000 workmen 15 years to finish this 'Dream in White Marble'.


The Taj Conference consists of :

Located in the North Zone, the conference includes 8 universities spread over Uttar Pradesh and Madhya Pradesh. The cities of Agra, Aligarh, Bareilly, Gwalior, Jhansi and Kanpur are directly involved in the competition, with Budaun, Etawah, Fatehgarh, Mainpuri and Orai as neutral sites.

In the Taj Conference, an astro-turf field is located at Gwalior. Doordarshan studios are located at Agra.

Watch out for intra-state rivals Agra University vs. Aligarh Muslim University, and inter-state rivals Jiwaji University vs. Kanpur University. Agra University and Jiwaji University have the potential to achieve National Rankings.
